After a long network outage Sony is bring the PlayStation Network back online in phases. In a press conference Kaz Hiari apologized and offered up some free content and other freebies. He also said they have been working with multiple security firms to conduct audits for their system and cited new security measures to protect personal information. The question now is how many parents and other PSN users will be cancelling accounts for lack of confidence?

Five days later and Sony’s PlayStation Network in still down. The outage was caused by an “external intrusion” from a hackers group, Anonymous, in retaliation for legal actions taken after George Hotz for breaking Sony’s security and sharing the information. Sony demand the names of those that have seen the information that is essentially how to “jailbreak” your PS3.
